Early College Academy

Earn a college degree and high school diploma.

The Early College Academy (ECA) is a partnership between Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS) and Metropolitan Community College – Penn Valley. The program was developed for highly motivated KCPS high school students ready to leave the high school environment and participate in the rigor of full-time college.

ECA students earn high school credits while also earning college credits as they attend full-time classes on the MCC-Penn Valley college campus.

Making education affordable.

As a KCPS student, ECA juniors and seniors do not have to pay anything for their classes at MCC-Penn Valley. Tuition, fees and books are covered as part of the program. However, students need to provide their own transportation to campus.

High School & College Life.

ECA students are considered both high school and college students. While attending Penn Valley, students retain their standing as a high school student within their home school. This allows students access to resources at both high school and college levels.

In addition, retaining their high school student status allows our ECA students to participate in their home schools’ extra-curricular activities such as school sports, drama, music and more.
